Mythology and Metaphysics

Mexico has been one of the top items in our family vacation list. One of our dinner conversations last week, eventually led to a discussion around where in Mexico are we interested in going. This eventually made me revisit The story of God series. One striking thing about this series is the way the host takes us on a journey through the world religions. Besides my personal opinion on how Hinduism was being poorly portrayed in the series, it is a good start to anyone who wants to look at religion(s) with a broad mindset.

This post would by far be the similarities and inferences that I was able to make based on my limited knowledge on mythology and metaphysics. As cited in my previous posts, this blog is predominantly a place where I would like to have a brief record of my stance on a particular topic.

Growing in a household where astrology was a table topic made me wonder how did they start believing in all these. Unlike the present generation kids who want some sort of projectors that showed them the stars and sky, I belong to the generation of kids who slept in the terrace gazing the night sky and the stars. Least were I aware that, these can significantly change the way I look at culture, folklore, and ancestors.

What do Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Illuminati, Vitruvian man, Pyramids, and Dattatreya have in common?

Short answer - Stars Long answer - Get started with this post.

Let’s get started with Pyramids of Giza.

There are plenty of theories around Pyramids. For years, Pyramid was depicted as tombs to commemorate the dead. Robert Bauval came up with the Orion Correlation Theory and it led to a series of discussions and theories. There is also one widespread theory that, apart from the hieroglyphics representation of the passages, there is a library hidden beneath the current day pyramids. Recently they discovered the air shafts inside the pyramids and surprisingly they were pointing to a specific direction at a specific angle. So the team has now deployed robotic cameras to find out where this shafts lead.

Let’s put all these aside and ask few quick/common questions. Why did they build the 3 pyramids in such a way that they are aligned at a 45-degree angle? Was this just an architectural mistake or was it planned to be designed this way?

Take a close look at the picture below.

Orion is a constellation of stars that is visible to the naked eye in the night sky. Modern day astronomers have defined close to 88 constellations in the sky.

The following picture shows some of our closest and visible constellations from Earth.

Ancient Egyptians believed that their Gods, Goddesses, and their entire civilization emerged from the Orion belt. A closer look at the layout of pyramids will give further insights.

Egyptians like Hindus believed in the concept of the afterlife. It was also noted that there were certain passages in the tomb that depicted how the dead person’s heart is weighed to see if he did good or bad in his lifetime. This closely related to the concept of Karma in Hinduism. Citing from one of my early posts, a soul can be a form of energy. Going by the laws of Physics, energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, so the Egyptians believed that airshafts provided a way for the king’s soul to escape out to the stars. They went a step further and decided to preserve the body so that when the energy wants to be transferred it can go out and come in via the air shafts to the same physical body! Such a realistic theory!

Let’s now look at the Illuminati. Thanks to Dan Brown for introducing this world.

After reading about pyramids, my theory around this symbol is quite obvious. Understanding the structure, reason, and ideology behind pyramids will illuminate the minds/eyeopener!

Now take a look at this picture of Da Vinci’s Vitruvian man.

There is a star based symmetry in quite obvious here. Did he want to imply that every person is a personified as a star(glowing mass of energy)?

Now take a look at the famous Ravi Verma painting of Dattatreya.

It is a well-known fact that Dattatreya symbolized the synergy of three Hindu gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, collectively known as Trimurti. Applying the Orion theory to this painting, few things become glaringly obvious.

The four animals are not in front of Dattatreya but around him. Also, notice the little dog that is isolated from the focus of this painting. If Dattatreya and the 4 animals represent Orion constellation, then the fifth dog, is the mystery star Sirius. And the river that flows behind is the Milky Way! Vedic astrology used a sidereal notion of timekeeping where the time is measured based on a fixed star to appear in the same position after earth completes one full rotation in its orbit. This also explains why Vedic astrology emphasized that the birthdays are based on stars!

Last but not the least, Bal Gangadhar Tilak has written a brief essay on the topic Orion or Antiquity of the Vedas, where he discusses how various verses in Vedas are in fact astronomical revelations.

My next post in this series will be after I (re)read the copy of Orion or Antiquity of the Vedas!
